The Kellys Animated Series Launches New Online
Games
LOS ANGELES & ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March
29, 2006
As the number of Internet users and online gamers continue to increase,
SportsBlast, a producer of innovative animated content for the Internet
and traditional media, today announced the release of two new games,
“Chip’s Revenge” and “Smoke Your Tires II”.
All games can be found on The Kellys online game room located at
www.teamkellyracing.com,
and gamers can play online through their Web browser.
Team Kelly Racing currently receives 40,000 - 100,000 unique visitors
per week, and is anticipating growing that number through the expansion
of its online game room.
“We have all witnessed the success of the gaming industry,
particularly in the online arena where gaming is booming,”
said Peter Kjenaas, president of SportsBlast. “As a company
that produces and develops Web content, creating online games to
support our Web animated series, The Kellys, was a natural progression.
These games allow our fans to feel as though they are a part of
the excitement with the ease of never leaving the computer.”
Smoke Your Tires II allows gamers to feel the rush of the race
as they speed around the track while avoiding a minefield of obstacles.
An enhanced version of the classic, this game allows users to do
doughnuts throughout the track, all the while trying to avoid crashing.
Players can also customize their cars, selecting color and logos
to create the perfect car to meet their racing style.
In Chip’s Revenge, players launch blobs of grease at The
Kellys characters, gaining or losing points depending on whom they
hit. Gamers can choose from three difficulty levels, posting their
highest score on the Web site. Currently in beta testing, the company
expects to go live with a third game, “Create Your Own Character”
shortly.
Developed and produced in association with Turner Sports Interactive,
The Kellys is a critically-acclaimed, animated Web series about
professional stock car racing. It is the first animated series to
take fans behind the scenes and into the heart of a stock car racing
family trying to win on the big circuit.
The Kellys has received numerous industry and independent film
awards, including a Silver Remi at WorldFest and a Gold at the Aurora
Awards, and has received glowing reviews from multiple media sources
including Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, the
Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Animation Magazine, among many
others.
About Turner Sports Interactive
Turner Sports Interactive became the exclusive producer of NASCAR.COM
when it acquired all of NASCAR’s interactive rights in October
2000. Since its relaunch in February 2001, NASCAR.COM has continued
to consistently grow its reach to millions of stock car fans each
month by leveraging the popularity of the sport and a collection
of unique and original features. In 2003, NASCAR.COM was awarded
an Emmy(R) by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
for use of advanced media in its PitCommand application, part of
TrackPass subscription offering. Today, Turner produces over two-dozen
original weekly features, applications and shows for NASCAR.COM
along with the most comprehensive editorial coverage of sanctioned
stock car racing, making it the largest racing site in the country.
Turner Sports Interactive also produces PGA.com, the second largest
golf site in the country.
